Welcome to Prarie Pi. This blog exists to journal and document the memories that our family experiences. Pi is "an amount of type that has been jumbled or thrown together at random." We hope to assemble in words and pictures the daily thoughts and activities that happen in our household. We do this to help those that are distant from us get a glimpse into our days so that the miles that separate us won't keep us apart.

A Break In The Rain.......

....brought us outside for a few minutes to catch a breath of fresh air....

....and to draw on the big, black, shiny chalkboard.  Instead of "Harold and the Purple Crayon,"  I had "Nacho and the Blue Crayon!"

The rain had been coming down pretty steadily most of the morning and gray was definitely Mother's Nature's favorite color for the day......but, the minute....

...Buttercup started drawing this wonderful rainbow....

....the sun....

...ever so slowly, but surely....
....used that exact moment to peek through the clouds and make it's brilliant appearance!!

The timing was perfect....but then again, Buttercup has always had a knack for spreading sunshine!

Have A Sunny Day!

Flat Nacho

Nacho made a flat version of himself last week and sent him off in the mail to........

....his very favorite friend.
His flat-self arrived safely and he was able to play and have fun on his old block.....something he wishes he could to as his real-self!!

Have a great Monday!

A Red Letter Day

Today starts our Alphabet study with the pre-schooler.
We begin with "A" week.  We did some activities this morning that helped him write the letter A.  Nacho especially liked rolling out the letter using play-dough.

Lil Sis should learn a little by osmosis.,....she wanted to get in on all the action, too.

Have An Absolute Awesome And Above Average Afternoon!
As Always,

Our Newest Addition....

Isn't he a beaut?......hand prints and all?

After over a month without a dishwasher (an electronic machine that is.....we have plenty of  'dishwashers' around here).....We brought this jim-dandy, stainless steel, Kenmore Elite, extra quiet high powered scrubbing piece of hardware home....and he fit perfectly in the little space we had prepared for him.
He really is VERY, VERY QUIET......so quiet, in fact, it is hard to tell if he is really working or not.
Our dishes have come out sparkling clean so I think he is earning his keep.
It's official then.  He is a permanent part of this family.

It's a match made in heaven!

And The Race Is On.....

....to see which team could find the most worms in the fastest time.
Moe gave himself a handi-cap....he had to find 10 worms before Nacho and Buttercup could find 3 worms.

I guess I never found out who the winner was.....
....but the fact that team Nacho/Buttercup never got dirty and Team Moe was self-cleaning....
I suppose I somehow won in the end!

Have a "worm-diful" week-end!

The sidewalk was the chalkboard today......

as the cooler summer day brought us out into the sun.

Moe set up camp.  We brought the desk back upstairs from the basement and he picked his seat and desk position.

Special cookies for dessert.....the 1st Day of School is ALWAYS a celebration!

Decision Made Easy

Mark and I have been wrestling with a decision all year.  Should we replace the white carpet in our house that is not so white anymore?  Or do we wait a year or two...clean it every few months and get a little more "wear and tear" out of it?  Do we live with what we have?  Or change it up to a more "family friendly" color. (DARKER!)
Well, today we made up our minds.

It all started when....

.....we hired painters to reach the high up areas in our house...mainly the vaulted ceilings in the entry way.  The painters gave us such a great price, we decided to have them do the bonus room bedroom and all of the exterior.
I really wanted to do an accent color on one of the walls, so I brought home 3 different samples of blue and tried them all.
Didn't choose any of them and the whole room is now Woodstock Tan.

Today, as we were cleaning the freshly painted room......I tried to give all three of the sample paint containers over to Rocky so he could take them down the basement.....and one started to slip from my hands......

Not only did it slip.....but the lid was not twisted tightly on top.

The question that has plagued us for over a year..."Do we replace the carpet sooner or later?"
Decision has been made......and very easily I might add.
It will be replaced sooner.
Hope you are enjoying your week-end!!!

P.S.  Moe is starting to like it.....he thinks it is a work of art and it is adding a little character to his room.
Maybe we will wait....
