Welcome to Prarie Pi. This blog exists to journal and document the memories that our family experiences. Pi is "an amount of type that has been jumbled or thrown together at random." We hope to assemble in words and pictures the daily thoughts and activities that happen in our household. We do this to help those that are distant from us get a glimpse into our days so that the miles that separate us won't keep us apart.

Alphabet Parade

Nacho started out the school year in September by learning one letter a week.  We just recently finished up the letter "Z" and so I gave an assignment to Nacho and Moe to make a parade of animals.  All animal in the parade had to start with a letter of the alphabet for 26 animals total.
They did it!

Moe had to be very creative and use the computer to help him come up with animals for some of the more difficult letters. He put a gorilla in the parade for the letter “U.” I asked him why and he said that is was an “Upland Gorilla.” Both boys had fun with the activity. I told Nacho that we would be going to the zoo now that we have been through all the letters. I am waiting for the next warm day!

Spring Tradition

Pick a dandy-lion.....

....make a wish....

....and let those wishes be carried off to the world with the spring breezes.
Repeat as necessary.

The Many Faces of Nacho

After we came home from storytime on Wednesday, (where we enjoyed frog themed books).....

...we stayed outside to enjoy the beautiful spring day.
Nacho went right to his new favorite outside activity....shootin' hoops.

And I had fun...

....watching him...

....trying to make baskets....

...and all the facial expression...

...that came before, after and during the shots!!

Next, he went on to baseball.

I enjoyed watching all his moves!

Have a HOPPY Spring day!!

This post was specially designed for Sharon B.....
as promised!!!!

Green Eggs and Ham.....

....were on the menu for Easter dinner....

.....green jello eggs.....that is....a family favorite!

Before that....it was business as usual on such a glorious day....

...the finding...

...of hidden baskets...

....and basking in the beauty of all that candy!

Nacho couldn't wait to take a chomp out of his chocolate bunny's ears!!

After dinner, we colored eggs....

...and now our lunch menu will be the same all week long!  Boiled eggs everyday until they are gone!

The last event of the day was the Easter Egg Hunt....
Ready, set, go!

Coco found this egg....but she nabbed the wrong color.  Tradition has it that everyone can only find the color assigned to them.
Ky....Blue
Rocky....Orange
Moe.....Yellow
Buttercup....Pink
Nacho.....Green
Coco.....Purple
Coco had to put that one back and look for a purple one.

Can you tell which child had a slight disadvantage in the hunt.....
those dandy-lions sure look a lot like eggs.....that might have slowed Moe down a bit!

Alleluia!

Alleluia!

He is risen!
He is risen, indeed!

Holy Saturday

Holy Saturday started off with a neighborhood...

...Easter egg hunt...

.....which put us in an "egg-citing" mood for the rest of the day.

It was then Easter dress time...

....followed by supper with friends....

.....and then on to the highlight of our day.....

....Easter Vigil....where three boys altar served.

It was a beautiful night!

Happy Easter!
Alleluia!
