Welcome to Prarie Pi. This blog exists to journal and document the memories that our family experiences. Pi is "an amount of type that has been jumbled or thrown together at random." We hope to assemble in words and pictures the daily thoughts and activities that happen in our household. We do this to help those that are distant from us get a glimpse into our days so that the miles that separate us won't keep us apart.

Hand-Me-Downs

As the seasons change, it's fun to go shopping....

to our favorite store....

........"Rubbermaid in the Basement."

There we find clothes that bring back memories of when Big Sister wore them.....
clothes for church.......

and clothes for a fall Sunday afternoon......

Buttercup is having fun seeing the cute outfits she used to wear....now these clothes will be able to dress new memories!!! Having a sister is so much fun!

Blessings on your Sunday!!

{this moment}

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo -no words- capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you're inspired to do the same, visit Soulemama and leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see.

GOT CHOCOLATE?

On Sunday, we found out we won the 3rd place prize for a drawing our church had at the week-end Fall Festival..........what did we win?
A basket with 10 pounds of chocolate in it!!

Add that to the chocolate we received with 5 children going trick-or-treating....
and then add that to the 6 bags of chocolate that we DIDN'T give out on Halloween night....
(my estimate was slightly off this year being it was our first time here)

and you might say that, yes, WE GOT CHOCOLATE!!

November Visit

We enjoyed our visit with Grandpa and Grandma.

Not only did we celebrate a belated birthday...

but we celebrated an early birthday, too.
Coco will be 1 next week and she had fun opening her present to see......

what was inside.

She was delighted with her new, pink stuffed bunny......

and looked bright and fun in her new outfit!!

One night, we had a Yahtzee show-down.....a night that went by all too fast......as they all tend to do when were are spending time with those that are dear to us.

Grandpa and Grandma left for home yesterday......Dad gave them last minute directions ......which must have been pretty good because they called last night and they made it home safely.
We miss them and there are subtle reminders of their visit spread throughout the house....
a pink bunny sitting lop-sided on the couch...
South Dakota potatoes on the menu for supper tonight....
deck door windows that sparkle as we walk by them....
Reminders that fill us with thankfulness...
Thankful for the gift of grandparents!!!
We love you!
Have fun playing "Hand and Foot" today!!
That'll be the next game-night.......we look forward to you teaching the kids at Christmas!!

A Sunday Drive, Sunday Walk, and a Sunday Ride

A SUNDAY DRIVE
We are excited that Grandpa and Grandma H. made the trip to come and visit us!!!
They arrived to an excited group of kids on Friday night.
Saturday found us working.....getting moving boxes out of the basement and cleaning and rearranging the garage. My refrigerator is also very shiny....inside and out right now!!
But, today, found us all taking on a slower pace. The afternoon was mild so we went out for a Sunday drive. It was a nice break from watching the Vikings....as when we left, the score was not in the Viking's favor and looked like they would be facing yet another loss.

It's always fun to try out new parks....

check out new scenery....

and see if the fish are biting.
Even if Rocky didn't get a nibble.....all luck was not lost....
We came home with 2 boxes of pizza and sat and finished the football game that was saved to the DVR......and, to our amazement.....a Vikings win!!

A Sunday Walk
Coco is getting more steady,
more consistent,

more sure-footed....

and more excited about walking!!

A Sunday Ride

Grandma H. brought along a birthday cake for Buttercup to celebrate being 7.......
being 7 has found her with two loose, upper teeth and growing a few inches which was why....
....receiving a shiny, new, pink bike for a gift was perfect as her old one was just getting too small.
So, today we set out on a walk/ride to try it out.....

......she rode around the neighborhood and we checked out all the leaf piles!!!

And, having a gorgeous, November day to ride that bike.....
......another perfect gift for this girl!!

Fall Season Wrap-Up

The last two week-ends found the football and soccer seasons coming to an official end.

Buttercup discovered she had a passion for soccer.

She loves to run and I swear I could hear her singing, "Put me in coach, I'm ready to play..."
when she had to take her turn sitting out on the sidelines.

This is another boy who loves to run.....this sport is actually his 2nd choice.
When mom gives him the word.....he will switch to his beloved football.

Picnics were a favorite way to pass time while watching games.Rocky was very sad to see his season end. If it were up to him, there would be year round football.

Ky, on the other hand, was ready to move on to the next sport........even as the coach gave the final talk, visions of basketballs were dancing through his head.

We've had two back to back seasons of outside sports. We've passed the time playing.....

at many parks.....

and exploring new areas. It was always fun to see what nature had for us to find.....

and to see what Mother Nature had to bestow on us for each sporting event. All in all, most games were pretty enjoyable weatherwise...........but, I admit, I will be the first one to say......
IT'S TIME TO MOVE INSIDE!!!
I'm ready to watch sports with a roof over my head!!
Bring on basketball!!
Have a great Thursday!!
Sara
P.S. Sunday NFL scores were never too far away........no matter where we were........Dad's phone always came in handy.
