Welcome to Prarie Pi. This blog exists to journal and document the memories that our family experiences. Pi is "an amount of type that has been jumbled or thrown together at random." We hope to assemble in words and pictures the daily thoughts and activities that happen in our household. We do this to help those that are distant from us get a glimpse into our days so that the miles that separate us won't keep us apart.

August Scenes 2012

Today, Nacho finished his first letter book.  He wrote the C's on the Cookie Cake and we celebrated his first few days of Kindergarten.  We are back in the full swing of our fall routine, but here are some pics of some of our August summer memories......

First game of football ever.

The team was short on helmets, so Moe was given a helmet from another Jr. Football organization to use until the newly ordered helmets came in....

....and I cannot tell you how much I LOVED having his helmet be blue when his team-mate's helmets were gold....he was always easy to spot!!  He has since received his new helmet and now I have to search a little more for #6!

First game at being quarterback!

A trip to the Milwaukee zoo....

...to see this awesome dinosaur exhibit....

...which consisted of robotic dinosaurs that actually roared as you walked by!

A Sunday walk to check out the new development in the subdivision right next to ours...

...and a dad carrying his daughter because the sun was a little too hot and we had walked a little too far.

Girls on scooters...

....and boys playing driveway tennis.

Ground squirrel pets....

...and birthday Monopoly games.

2 year olds with hats!

Visiting grandparents....

....and playing with Grandpa Wes's I-Pad.
(which is good for grandpa as the boys download great programs and teach Grandpa how it works!)

A visit from Uncle Andy....

...and learning a few things from a Master marksman!

This summer was right on target!

Happy Birthday, Grandpa Wes!

Thanks for bringing this fun kit and building it with us the last time you were here!

Well, we followed through this week-end on the finishing touches....just like you told us to!

Nacho picked out green, Buttercup picked out sky blue and Coco picked out plum.

And, we hung it up!  The kids said that you were going to try and figure out where it is hanging the next time you came. Well, we are ready for you to come find it!

There were birthday treats for the neighborhood birds in your honor!
We celebrated for you (wish it was with you) at our church's Pig Roast Dinner today!  Lots of carnival games and treats, so it was a party day for us.
Hope you had a great day!

Old World Wisconsin......

....a place where you can step back in time and experience life the way it was over 150 years ago.

Sweeping the back porch....

...was fun to do with friends.

Free roaming poutry birds were fun to catch....

...and pet.

Wooden shoes.....were the practical way to walk to the barn to do chores....a long time ago!

Collecting eggs from the chicken coop....

...and walking them EVER SO CAREFULLY back to the house was a chore that Coco didn't take lightly.

Washing clothes rated pretty high on the favorite chore list....

....for not only Coco....

...but.....

for others, too.  It was a beautiful, gorgeous day to hang the laundry on the clotheline.....

...but the clothes had to be properly wrung out....

...to get out every last drop of water.

We watched corn being ground up for animal feed.

But, one of the favorite spots of all...

...was the carpenter shop.....

....especially for Nacho!!!

He learned to use a twitter....

....to chop wood.

Nacho could have stayed and worked with wood all day!  With his middle name of "Joseph," no wonder he has an interest in being a carpenter!

But, the best part of our trip back in time.....was spending time with SD neighborhood friends.  Even though time marches on.....time can stand still....even if it is for a few hours....long enough to catch up, reaquaint....

....and make new memories!

We had such a wonderful day!
