Welcome to Prarie Pi. This blog exists to journal and document the memories that our family experiences. Pi is "an amount of type that has been jumbled or thrown together at random." We hope to assemble in words and pictures the daily thoughts and activities that happen in our household. We do this to help those that are distant from us get a glimpse into our days so that the miles that separate us won't keep us apart.

Happy Halloween

On Tuesday night, we prepared our pumpkins...

....to be jack-o-lanterns.

This was Nacho's design...

...this was Buttercup's design....

...and this was Moe's design....shining brightly on this very Halloween night!

This year, we had a pioneer girl...

....a tiger...

...a Tigger...

...and a Marian fan.
(This was Moe's 5th year of being a fan....each year he picks a different team!)

It was a nice evening....

...and Coco was able to travel by golf-cart for part of the route....tucked warmly under a blanket....so she made it through the whole neighborhood trek!

Moe and Rocky found the  house that gave out the King size bars...

....and started bartering almost immediately with Rocky as soon as they put their candy on the table.

There were smiles galore...

.....and energy abounded as Nacho ran full speed to every house and didn't slow down at all!

Happy Halloweeen!
Save us a treat and bring it when you come, Grandpa Wes and Grandma Jo!

Library Fun

On Friday, Moe and Buttercup attended an art session at the library.

They learned about the Mexican holiday "Dia de los Muertos" (Day of the Dead).

Coco played on the computer with a friend....

....and Nacho went to his very favorite place of all!
Everytime he goes to the library, he searches high....

....and he bends down low....

....to find the perfect animal book to take home.

Moe, the Rodeo Clown

Moe had a Tween Homeschool Costume Party on Saturday night...he had lots of fun, but I don't think too many of the kids at the party knew what a rodeo clown was!!!

Big Sister

Out of the mouth of Coco......"Mommy, I am going to be a Big Sister."

"There will be a long one and a short one."

"Buttercup will be the long one...

.......and I'll be the short one!"

The Littlest Leaf Pile......

...is what you get...

....when there are only a few leaves on the ground....

....and you just can't wait...

...to use your very own rake.

But, the fun and the magic....

...is in the fact....

....that the leaves are actually on the ground...

...and can be thrown up in the air....
so that the celebration of Autumn can begin!!

Target Practice.....

...at Grandpa's farm gave Buttercup her first opportunity to try out a gun!
She hit the can!

That made up for the bowling ball totally
missing the alley and hitting the wall!

You win some, you lose some!

Bowling, Apples and Goodie's

We went bowling last week-end, and Buttercup's first throw of the day.....
ended up hitting the checkered wall!!  We had a good laugh.

Nacho....

...tended to use body movements to urge his ball in the direction he wanted it to go!

Moe's name was consistantly on the leader board.

In the end, we attributed his wins to his bowling shoes.....he found them at the bottom of a closet in his grandparent's house.
They were once used by Grandma H......

....and he was bowling at the bowling alley that Grandma H. used to bowl at...
no wonder it was such a recipe for success!

Speaking of recipes.....we had fun actively participating in the making of an apple pie.

First, we climbed to the top of an apple tree to get the ripe apples that were ready to go.

Some climbed higher than others.....good thing, too, as the nice fat ones were way up  high.

Then, it was time to pick the ripe ones off the ground.

Next, we watched Grandma H. role the pie crust...
...and then we watched Grandpa H. peel, slice and core the apples...

...all at the same time.

Then it was time to cut the slices into the pie pan...

...and in the end, I didn't get a picture of the final result, but the pies turned out delcious!!

I DID get a picture of Grandma Jo's birthday cake that she made for Buttercup!
It was delicious, too

This is Buttercup dressed up as a pioneer girl....the dress was a birthday present from Grandma Jo and Grandpa Wes.

This is a picture of Grandpa's Goody Box.......in the state of being opened!
SURPRISE.....there are no goodies inside.....just an explosion waiting to scare whomever tries to take a goody

I guess we have to go find the goodies in the cupboards, fridge and freezers....the kids know all the spots to look!

Not all goodies are to be eaten......the IPAD is a fun "goody" to do!
