Welcome to Prarie Pi. This blog exists to journal and document the memories that our family experiences. Pi is "an amount of type that has been jumbled or thrown together at random." We hope to assemble in words and pictures the daily thoughts and activities that happen in our household. We do this to help those that are distant from us get a glimpse into our days so that the miles that separate us won't keep us apart.

Ahhhh, Spring!

Reading....

...and pitching practice...

...were two afternoon activities that were enjoyed on this gorgeous spring day.....activities that I've witnessed many times before....

......but, when I saw this scene outside my kitchen window, I had to stop and think about what new activity Moe was up to today!?

It had to do with a blue jay that was hanging around our yard today.

Moe had some bird feed in his hand and he was trying to lure in the blue jay for a little treat.

Mr. Jay has let Moe come pretty close, but hasn't taken Moe up on his offer yet!

Winter BP....

...can stand for Winter Batting Practice.
January's mild temperatures has led us to enjoy a favorite past-time....

...in a season where we usually don't get to do it!
Coco will stand by somewhat patiently and wait her turn to whack the ball!

The swings continue to get a good work out....

...and so do the people who are swinging in them!!!

And Winter BP can stand for Basketball Practice!!!  Moe's time to play basketball has finally arrived....

...although he is always on the driveway court practicing...

...it is now time for him to play indoors...

He LOVES to go to practice with his team every M-W-F....

...and is looking forward....

....to playing in some local games and tournaments.
His 1st game is Saturday!!!
It's been a long time coming!

Hot Baseball

 There's "Hot" baseball......
(warm, humid, full-sun heat)

and then there's "Hot" baseball......
(on the money, good solid fundamentals)

Ky H. Hits and Pitches Hurricanes to 13-1 Victory
(recap written on GameChanger)

Ky H. powered the Hurricanes at the plate and on the rubber Saturday, willing the Hurricanes to a 13-1 victory over the Broncos.
Ky H. racked up three RBI's on two hits for the Hurricanes.  Ky H. singled in the first inning and homered in the fifth inning.
Broncos had no answer for Ky H, who cruised on the mound.  The Broncos managed just one hit off of the Hurricane's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out five during his three innings of work.

Baseball Fever

Last night was Rocky's turn for baseball.
He played 3rd base.......

....pitcher and short-stop.

It was a beautiful night to be outside.....

And there was a wonderful park closeby and LOTS of open grass for Mark to throw fly balls to Ky and Moe.

Tis the "Exploring New Play Equipment" season has started for the younger ones......

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Baseball----Behind the Scenes

Moe, Buttercup, Nacho, Coco and I went to Ky's baseball game today.

I watched some baseball, but I also enjoyed a simply beautiful spring day.

While Ky and his team warmed up, we were warming up too.....sitting on a blanket and soaking up the sun's rays......

enjoying our first picnic of the year. I watched Ky get a walk to first base, but I also saw Coco walk all over..... loving the freedom of having no walls around her.

I saw a girl hanging from the monkey bars today, but I didn't see any hanging curve balls from Ky's pitching.......he had a few great strike-outs as he allowed no runs during his time on the mound.

Moe had the best seat in the house......

watching from up high as the team played the field......

but watching up close as the team batted as he has become the official "bat boy."

My first baseball game of the year....... Yep, spring has definitely sprung.

Have a wonderful week,

Sara
